McClanahan enters his 8th season as the head coach of the Gordon College Highlanders. During his first seven seasons he has helped 56 players move on to play at 4-year institutions with 32 of those players receiving regional & district awards and 3 receiving national awards. The last three seasons being his most successful seasons as the Highlanders won 70%(116-49) of their games. The Highlanders were also ranked as high as 6th in the nation while having 2 players named All-Americans and 1 National Gold Glove winner. The Highlanders have also excelled in the classroom; 50 players making the Dean's List (3.5 GPA) and 7 being named Academic All-Americans. Before coming to Gordon College in the fall of 2002, McClanahan served as the head coach at Hiwassee College in TN. During 2000-2001, his first season, he took the Tigers to the Region 7 championship tournament. This was the first trip for the Tigers in 15 years. He also saw 2 players from that team move to NCAA Division I teams. In 1999 McClanahan earned his B.S. in Health and Physical Education and in 2000 he earned his M.A. in Health and Physical Education from Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, TN. While at Tennessee Tech he worked with the baseball program and was a graduate assistant in the Health and Physical Education department. He also earned his A.S. from Cleveland State Community College where he was the pitching coach in 1996. McClanahan, born in Cleveland, TN on July 10th, 1974 is married to the former Brooke Holman of Dickson, TN also a graduate of Tennessee Tech. They reside in Forsyth, Ga with their two daughters, Taylor and Emma.
