Applications for the program will be accepted starting on October 1, 2009. The deadline for receipt of complete application packet for Summer 2010 is March 5, 2010.

The following requirements and materials must be submitted as one packet with the application form to be considered for admission

  • Application Form [signed and dated]
  • Copy of acceptance letter into
    Gordon College
  • Copies of all college transcripts
  • Two letters of reference [one academic and one professional (related to current employment)]
  • Essay [a two-page typed paper discussing your interest in Gordon College; why you wish to pursue a bachelor’s degree in nursing; and, how this new role will compliment or facilitate your professional goals; no graphics or pictures]



The following are academic and clinical requirements for the nursing program

  • Graduate of an accredited associate degree or diploma program in nursing
  • Acceptance into Gordon College by February 1, 2010
  • A plan for completion of 60 semester hours of core curriculum courses (Areas A-F) by the end of Summer 2010
  • A transfer core GPA of 2.5
  • A Georgia Board of Nursing License will be required prior to starting clinical courses in Fall 2010

Applicants will be notified of acceptance or non-acceptance by U.S.mail.


Additional Requirements

After acceptance and prior to the beginning the nursing courses:

  • Meet School of Nursing clinical course requirements, including: (a) health history and physical examination; (b)immunization requirements including measles, rubella, and hepatitis B; (c) tuberculosis screening; (d) current American Heart Association CPR for Health Care Providers’ certification; (e) health professions RN liability insurance; and (f) personal health insurance. Personal health insurance is a requirement of the Board of Regents in Georgia for students in the health care professions. If a student does not have personal health insurance, they will be billed through Gordon College.
  • A criminal background check will be required prior to enrolling in any clinical nursing courses. Students will be responsible for the cost of the background check. Further information on the recommended company used for background checks will be given to the student upon admission into the RN-BSN program.
