Objectives: Upon successful
completion of this course, the student will
Be able to:
1. Recognize and understand the basic elements of the public
speaking
process
2. Choose, organize and develop effective oral presentations to

presented in
class
3. Organize, outline and develop supporting statements for both
a
Formal and
an informal presentation to achieve the desired effect.
4. Recognize and utilize the group as a problem solving unit.
5. Identify the dynamics of group communication as it relates to
Cultural difference and cultural problem-solving.
6. Develop listening skills and keener perception and respect
for
Individual speaking styles and individual
attitudes.
This class is a combination of lecture and student interaction.
Speech
delivery and role
playing are the major components of the student's
participation.
Student participation may include group activities, oral
presentation,
etc.
CLASSROOM POLICIES
n Students are expected to attend each class and participate in class discussions and activities. The professor reserves the right to withdraw any student who has missed over 20% of the course.
n All assignments must be typewritten and turned in at the beginning of the class period in which it is due. Late work is not accepted. There is no Make up for missing speech dates.

T. 04/28 This is the last day to clear up all issues with your group
members. Ensure each person has
completed their part of the project. Make certain that the binders, tabs,
plastic inserts and research are all put in place and all work associated with
this project, including power point and your dress code is in professional
shape. (All group leaders are expected to show great leadership. Lead your
group well and this should be a successful final project.) Any group member
missing on the day of the project will lose the amount of points that the
project is worth. This equals out to 200 points.
