Simple instructions for submitting papers via “Turnitin.com”
Creating a User Profile
- Go to
the website www.turnitin.com
Click
on Create a User Profile in the
upper right hand corner of the web page
The system will prompt you at this
point to enter your
Turnitin ID:
Turnitin Class Enrollment Password:
(You
must obtain the ID and Password from your individual faculty contact unless
otherwise instructed. Each student may have a different ID and Password based
on the course that they are enrolled in and the faculty contact that they
have!)
Please note that the password is CASE SENSITIVE!
- After
entering the appropriate ID and Password the system will thank you for
entering the class and display on screen the class that you are in. Please
CONFIRM that you are in the appropriate class (i.e. Nursing 1902). You
will then be prompted to enter your e-mail address (Please use your Gordon
college e-mail address!) NEXT
- You
will then create your own password (Remember this is case sensitive!) NEXT
- You
will then be prompted to select a secret question and answer for security
reasons. NEXT
- You
will then enter your first and last name (No aliases, please J)
NEXT
- You
will then have the opportunity to read the user agreement and AGREE
- You
will then be informed that your account is created and you can end the
Wizard and Login
- Your
initial view will be that of ALL classes that you have enrolled in
Submitting a Paper
- Enter
the appropriate class from the “ALL Classes” page (Do this by clicking on
the class name.)
- Your
view will consist of the assignments
for the course on the left and your
portfolio on the right
- To
view details about your assignment you can click on the assignment name
and it will take you to a screen that will show you the:
Title of the assignment
Type of assignment
Start date
Due date (Note: It is up to
the instructor if papers are accepted after the due
date with applicable penalties. This system CAN be set NOT to accept papers after the due
date. Please refer to your individual instructor for guidance.)

Miscellaneous Information
- To
submit your COMPLETED paper for grading you should click the Submit button beside the
appropriate assignment Title
- This
will take you to a different screen that will guide you in submitting your
paper.
- You
want to submit your paper by File
Upload (If you have trouble doing this due to file format, you can use
the Cut & Paste option!)
- Verify
that your name is correct
- Insert
a Submission Title for your paper
- Click
the Browse button to browse
your personal computer files to select the appropriate paper that you are
submitting
- Once
you have opened the appropriate file for submission you will then select Submit from this screen
- The
system will then ask you to verify that this is the appropriate paper to
submit and it will show a preview of the content of your paper. You should
chose Yes or No
- You
will then be given a digital
receipt with the Paper Title, Paper ID, and Your Name listed. You can
print this for your records!
- You
also have the option to place your submission into your portfolio where it gives you information about the date
that you submitted your paper, the content of your paper, and the number
of reviews that you have received (Recommended!)
- PLEASE
NOTE THAT YOU CAN NOT SUBMIT A
PAPER TWICE SO YOU MUST DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME!

- Log in
(Remember Case sensitive!)
- Select
the option to Enroll in a Class
Enter the Class ID and Class Password (You must obtain the ID and Password from
your individual faculty contact unless otherwise instructed. Each student may

- Select
Appropriate Class
- Select
Appropriate Assignment
- Submit
