Gordon College

NURSING PROGRAM

The Gordon College Nursing Program is 3 years in length IF you include the time required to complete the core classes. Generally, the first year of study is spent on campus taking core course requirements for the nursing curriculum. The Nursing Program is 2 years in length once these core classes are completed.

  • Quantitative skills or College Algebra
  • Anatomy and Physiology I
  • English Composition I
  • English Composition II
  • Human Growth and Development
  • American History I or II
  • Approved Elective (see http://www.gdn.edu/nursing/ >> go to Curriculum)
  • Microbiology with Lab
  • Anatomy and Physiology II
  • Regents Test

Although it is recommended, it is not required that all core classes be completed before applying to the Nursing Program. The Admissions Office will assess the Core Class status of the applicant by looking at the applicant’s transcripts. The assessment of what will transfer and what could be considered as Core Curriculum will be made by the Admissions Office.

The following are required before applying to the Nursing Program:

  • A final letter of acceptance for admission to Gordon College.
  • An exemption from or completion of all Learning Support coursework.
  • A minimum grade of 2.0 on each Core Course required for the nursing curriculum.
  • A minimum overall grade point average of 2.0 on all coursework attempted.

Applications are available twice per year through the Nursing office...in November for Fall admission and in June for Spring admission. These applications MUST be submitted to the Nursing Department on or before February 1 for Fall admission and September 7 for Spring admission. Official transcripts must be included with the application. (Need two sets of transcripts: one for Gordon College admission and one to accompany the nursing application)

After the application is submitted to the Nursing Department, it goes to the Nursing Admissions Committee for assessment.

There is no waiting list. Once classes start, everyone must reapply.
