The Division of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Gordon College made a donation to the Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy instead of giving holiday gifts to each other.
This is the fourth giving campaign for the division. In the past donations have been made to the Lamar County Primary School, Lamar County Elementary School and Gordon's Hightower Library.
The Ferst Foundation of Lamar County provides free books to all Lamar County children under the age of 5 who register for the program. The Foundation is committed to reducing the number of children reading below grade level in Lamar County.
Presenting the donation to Kelly Hughes, center, coordinator of the Lamar County Ferst Foundation, is, left, Susan Byars, assistant professor of Learning Support Mathematics, and Terry Betkowski, professor of Learning Support Mathematics.
