The Gordon College Men's and Women's 2008 fall soccer season gets under way Friday with the Select Kickoff Classic.
The Gordon men's team will begin the competition on Friday with a 1 p.m. game against Hiwassee College. At 5 p.m. Meridian will play Concordia.
"The men continue to improve each day and have been working hard to get ready for the tournament," said Scott Henderson, the men's head coach.
The action continues Saturday with Hiwassee playing Meridian at 2 p.m. and the Gordon men facing Concordia at 6 p.m.
The Gordon women's team, coached by Dave West, will face Hiwassee at 3 p.m. Friday and Meridian at 4 p.m. Saturday.
Other women's play includes South Georgia vs. Meridian at 7 p.m. Friday and Hiwassee against South Georgia at noon Saturday.
"The Gordon ladies have been training really hard despite the grueling heat," said West. "They are going to be ready to win when they step on the field Friday afternoon."
All games are at the Gordon College Athletic Complex on Highlander Way, just off College Drive. The public is invited and admission is free.
