The Center will add 17,000 square feet to the student center, which was built in 1978 to accommodate 1,400 students, nearly half the current student population of 3,600.
In brief speeches Hatcher lauded the school's dedication to its students and the community while Weill pointed out that the center's new bookstore will be open to the public.
"This will be something new for the community since there isn't a bookstore in Barnesville," Weill said.
As well as the new book store the center will include a career counseling center, a dedicated space for a minority advising program, academic advising and other counseling services as well as group study room, space for computer tutoring stations and two classrooms.
