03. 23. 2010From Rwanda to Gordon (GA)
While driving one day last October, coach Izzy Ingle’s cell phone chirped its usual We Are The Champions. The conversation was brief and ended with a simple message. “I’ll talk to you later,” Ingle to his brother Tony Jr., the assistant director of basketball operations to their father Tony Sr. at Kennesaw State. “I love you.”

The Georgia Junior College Athletic Association Men's Basketball Tournament wrapped up on Saturday at Middle Georgia College. After Coastal Georgia defeated the Highlanders, the Mariners went on to secure a spot in the championship game against MGC. Congratulations to the Warriors who will represent Region 17 at the national tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas!
03. 02. 2010Season Ends At #2 Coastal GA
The hope of moving on to the next round in the Georgia Junior College Athletic Association men's basketball tournament came to an abrupt halt for Gordon College on Tuesday. Behind the dominating play of Mariners Johathan Brooks and Ernest Fuller, #2 seed Coastal Georgia bounced the Highlanders out of the GJCAA post-season first round with a 103 - 84 victory in Brunswick. GC relied heavily on freshmen standouts Malcom Jackson and Faibein Davis for their offensive spark. Jackson hit five three-pointers and poured in 28 points while Davis was solid from the field with 21. Sophomore DeAndre Cannon had four three-pointers of his own and finished with 14 points on the night.
02. 28. 2010Jackson Listed On All Freshman Team
For a second year in a row, a Gordon College basketball player has made the All Freshman Team. Malcom Jackson was one of five players named by the GJCAA for this prestigious honor. Jackson led the league in scoring with a 19.1 average and a solid first year as a Highlander. As you may recall, GC's Daveion Zellner made the 2008-2009 squad.
02. 27. 2010Playoffs, Post-Season Awards Abound For GC
The Georgia Junior College Athletic Association has announced the pairings for the 2010 Men’s Basketball Conference Tournament. Gordon College will travel to Brunswick to face the number two-seed College of Coastal Georgia on Tuesday (March 2) at 7:30 p.m. The Mariners swept the Highlanders (15 – 15) during the regular season but a one game do-or-die tournament situation may favor GC. The winner will advance to the semi-final round on Friday (March 5) against Georgia Perimeter or Atlanta Metro. Tip-off for Friday's matchup will be at 5 p.m. at Middle Georgia College.
02. 18. 2010Drought Over With Win
Gordon College ended their conference drought last night with a hard fought 89 – 87 win over South Georgia Tech in Americus. It was truly a team effort as four Highlanders were in double figures. DeAndre Cannon came up with clutch shots throughout the night and led all scorers with 25 points. He was followed by Malcom Jackson with 20 and Faibein Davis who had 13. Freshman Tony Williams also made his presence known as he came off the bench and chipped in 11 points.
02. 08. 2010Woes Continue For Highlanders
What looked like a promising January for the Gordon College Men’s Basketball program has turned into a disappointing February as the Highlanders have dropped their ninth conference game of the season to Atlanta Metro. GC could not stop the Panthers outside game and fell 90 – 63 on Monday night. With the loss, Gordon College is now 13 – 13 but only 2 - 9 in conference play.
01. 29. 2010Cannon's 31 Points Not Enough
Sophomore DeAndre Cannon poured in 31 points but it was not enough to overcome Atlanta Metro and Tony Dukes Thursday night in Alumni Memorial Hall. Dukes’ 38 points led the Panthers to another important conference win and a 104 – 87 victory over the Highlanders.
01. 27. 2010GC Looks To Reverse Fortunes
It was a big challenge for Gordon College as they traveled to Cochran to face league leader Middle Georgia College on Monday night. Coming off two straight conference losses, the Highlanders were hoping to knock off the Warriors on their home court but MGC prevailed for a 90 – 79 victory. The loss drops Gordon College to 13 – 7 while Middle Georgia is now 17 – 2.
