Newcomers Strong For Highlanders
A strong finish by newcomers Mary Roberts and John Mark Grafmiller highlighted the first collegiate event of the year for Gordon College. Both freshmen placed eleventh in their respective divisions while Elizabeth Gresham, Alexxa Quiles, Chelsey Patterson, and Nathon Watson placed in the top twenty. Darton College won the women's and men's competition while the Highlander men placed third overall. Gordon College will return to action on Saturday, September 11, at Georgia Southwestern University in Americus.
08. 26. 2010Cross Country Begins New Season
New faces will dominate the landscape for the 2010 Gordon College Cross Country team as they prepare for their season opening run at Darton College on Saturday (Aug. 28). Head Coach John Campbell expects to rely on four returning sophomores to provide the leadership for this year's team. Robert McKay, Elizabeth Gresham, Chelsey Patterson and Alexxa Quiles will all play a part in the success of the Highlander program. With numerous conference competitors expected at the Darton Invitational, Campbell should know early on how his young squad will measure up against other teams in Region 17.

McKay Receives National Attention
Gordon College Cross Country runner Robert McKay was interviewed after the Region XVII Championship in Albany last month and he’s now featured in the November issue of the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Review magazine. His inspirational story competing as a blind student-athlete for the Highlanders has caught the attention of state and national media outlets.
10. 26. 2009Cross Country Set For Region Championship
With the regular season completed, the Gordon College Cross Country team can now set their sights on the Region XVII Championship this weekend. The event is hosted by Darton College and will be run at Skiles Farm in Dawson, Georgia, this Saturday, October 31. The women will open the competition at 9 a.m. while the men are scheduled to start at 10 a.m.

The Gordon College Athletic Department files eligibility each year with the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). As Highlander Athletic Director Todd Davis was checking the final details on the men’s cross country team, a piece of information on the form caught his attention. One of the student-athletes planning to participate had attended the Georgia Academy of the Blind.

More than 150 runners from predominantly four-year institutions crowded the pathways at the Mercer University RunFit Invitational this past Saturday. Sandwiched in between one of the largest high school meets in the state of Georgia, the Gordon College cross country team found a very competitive field in their fifth straight appearance this season.

Newcomers Elizabeth Gresham and Robert Bradham continue to set the pace for Gordon College’s cross country team. Gresham recorded another top twenty-five finish at the Darton College Invitational while Bradham remained at the top of the pack among region runners in the 8K.

More than twenty teams greeted the Highlander Cross Country squad on Saturday as they traveled to Rome to compete in the Berry College Invitational. Four states and three different divisions (NCAA D-II, NAIA, NJCAA) were represented at the meet.

The cross country team stayed close to home over the Labor Day weekend as they hosted the Rock Ranch Collegiate Invitational on Saturday. Overcast skies and a festive atmosphere greeted the seven teams as they prepared for the second annual event at The Rock.

The women’s and men’s cross country team kicked off the 2009 season at Young Harris College over the weekend. The mountains provided a great setting and tough challenge for the young squad on their first outing.
