District Tourney Next For Highlanders

5. 15. 2012

An incredible run came to an end Tuesday as Gordon College fell 7 - 6 to Middle Geogia in the finals of the GCAA Region Tournament. The Highlanders put up three unearned runs to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth inning and had another opportunity to win the game in the 10th with bases loaded. However, GC does not leave empty handed as they now advance to the East Central District Tournament in Cochran, Georgia, and will face Walters State (TN) on Friday. The winner of the three-day tournament advances to the College World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado. Go Highlanders!

There was no room for error as the Gordon College baseball team had to win both games on Monday to advance to the region finals. GC returned to the diamond and eliminated Georgia Perimeter 6 - 4 to secure a spot in Tuesday's championship game at noon. Gordon College must beat Middle Georgia twice to claim the region title. Regardless of the outcome, GC has qualified for the District Tournament next weekend with a berth to the College World Series on the line.

UPDATE: No Baseball Until Monday

The Highlanders must win to stay alive and would have to play another game on Monday if they defeat the Tigers.

Late Start Dooms Highlanders

5. 11. 2012

It took four innings before Gordon College woke up but it was too late as the Highlanders could not overcome an eight-run lead by South Georgia College. The GCAA Region Baseball Tournament is a double-elimination event and is being held on Georgia Perimeter's Newton campus in Covington. Regardless, the Highlanders must win tonight or the seaon is over for GC. All games for the 2012 tournament are video webcast by Jockjive and the link can be found at www.jockjive.com
