Coaching
Prior to coming to Gordon, Henderson’s coaching and
playing
background has been both extensive and varied. While
playing for the Heat in Harrisburg, PA, he started his
coaching career as an assistant to Bob Lilley, who has
moved on to the professional ranks. Henderson left this
job to become the head coach at Central York High School
and then moved on to Strath Haven High School in South
Philadelphia.

Also active in youth coaching, Henderson helped train
teams for clubs such as Lower Dauphin and Super Nova in
Harrisburg and Cherry Hill and Voorhees in New Jersey.
Just before moving back to Georgia, Henderson was working
his way up the New Jersey ODP coaching ladder. He now
helps out with the Upson Soccer Association whenever
possible.

Playing
Henderson played soccer at Lithonia High School in Dekalb
before becoming a four-year starter for the University of
South Carolina. Playing for Mark Berson and Trevor Adair
(now head coach at Clemson University), Henderson had the
opportunity to play with outstanding players like Doug
Allison, head coach at Furman University.

After graduation, Henderson embarked on a 12-year
professional playing career. He began in Washington D.C.
with the Diplomats, playing for Coach John Ellinger,
former U-17 US national team coach. That same year,
Henderson was drafted by the Dayton Dynamo of the NPSL
(now the MISL) and began his indoor soccer career. After
leaving Dayton, he played for Harrisburg Heat and
Philadelphia Kixx in the indoor league. He also played
professional outdoor soccer in Washington D.C., Baltimore,
Staten Island, and Cincinnati.
