Athletics Receive Academic Honors
Gordon College was the only two-year institution in the state of Georgia who placed a squad on the 2010 NJCAA Spring All-Academic Teams list. Directed by Head Coach Ally Carter-Hattermann, women’s softball posted an overall team GPA of 3.17. The minimum grade point average requirement for consideration is a team GPA of 3.00. In addition to the team award, three student-athletes were named Distinguished Academic All-American. Sophomores Corby Holmes, Caitlin Moyer, and Maegan Phillips all recorded grade point averages of 3.80 or higher to earn this honor. Congratulations on a job well done!
05. 05. 2010Season Ends With Three All-Region Selections
The final home game against league-leader Middle Georgia College was a difficult way to end the season for a group of very talented sophomores. GC battled the Lady Warriors throughout the game but would fall in the nightcap 6 - 4. Angela Barkman, Brandy Briscoe, Corby Holmes, Ivy Lancaster, Lacee Landrum, Caitlin Moyer, Maegan Phillips, Dixie Stewart and Taylor Wilkes would close out their career against MGC. However, all nine student-athletes played a big role in building a solid program for Gordon College. Even after the season, the efforts of three Highlanders were recognized by the GJCAA for All-Region honors. Corby Holmes, Caitlin Moyer and Taylor Wilkes were named to the second team for their outstanding play. Congratulations!

With just three more league doubleheaders, each game becomes extremely important and this weekend is no exception. Gordon College will meet South Georgia on Saturday in Douglas with the winner keeping their hopes alive for a playoff spot. The Tigers are 17 - 17 on the year and have a 5 - 7 mark in the league.

03. 30. 2010One Run Makes Difference In Both Games
It came down to one run in both games as Gordon College dropped the first game of the doubleheader to Cleveland State (TN) Community College 3 - 2. The Highlanders would strike first on a homerun by catcher Caitlin Moyer and then seal the victory late in the game on an RBI single by Angela Barkman. Gordon College (19 - 15) will now enjoy the Easter break and return to action on April 8 when they host Darton College in a conference doubleheader.
03. 29. 2010Exciting Softball Fills Sunday Slate
Extra innings and a late rally made it an exciting day for softball as Gordon College picked up another conference split on Sunday against Coastal Georgia. Game 1 provided a solid pitching performance on both sides of the diamond as Gordon's Lacee Landrum fanned sevens batters in five innings. However, Coastal Georgia's Amber May stole the spotlight with twelve strikeouts and secured the win in extra innings 8 - 5.
