Using GALILEO in Dr. Boltz’s Class

When you access GALILEO on campus, you will not need a password. When you access GALILEO off campus, you will need a password, which you can acquire when you access GIL on campus.

Once you’ve accessed GALILEO you will see five tabs under GALILEO’s blue banner. They are: Browse by Subject, Browse by Type, Databases A-Z, Journals A-Z and Search.

For my class you will use only one of these tabs: Databases A-Z. Use of any other tab will lead to lost points.

Once you click on this tab, a window will come up which has a box where you can type in the name of the database. There are only four databases I allow you to use in my class: Academic Search Complete, Research Library (at Proquest), LexisNexis Academic and Encyclopedia Britannica Online.

When you call up the Encyclopedia Britannica Online, you will be given several options, but the only option you can use is the Encyclopedia Britannica Online. Another warning about the Encyclopedia Britannica Online: you can only use the search function.
