How do I logon to a Gordon lab computer?

Gordon computers located in our lab facilities are for students only and are password protected. Students are required to logon to a Gordon computer in order to access its resources. Gordon provides every student with a network account. Your network account allows you to access computing services and resources such as lab computers, residence hall Internet, disk space, wireless (Wi-Fi) Internet, e-mail, etc. Network accounts are created for a student once they have been accepted to the college. Follow the instructions below to logon to a computer on campus:

Username...

  1. To access a Gordon-owned lab computer, first you will need to obtain your Gordon network username. This username is the SAME username used to access your e-mail account. Therefore, if you have already successfully logged into your e-mail account, use that same username and password combination to logon to a computer at Gordon. Otherwise, continue with step #2 below.
  2. You can look up your username online by going to the http://www.gdn.edu/privacy/ web site and clicking on 'Lookup My GCID#' from the left-side menu on the screen. Within the smaller pop-up window, enter your last name, date of birth, and last 4 digits of your Social Security Number in the text boxes provided and press the 'Lookup' button Your username will be printed next to the bold heading NETWORK / GeorgiaVIEW USERNAME. Remember this username!

Password...

If you have NOT already activated your e-mail account online by resetting your password, you will be required to change your password following your first logon attempt to a Gordon computer. Otherwise, use the password you created previously online when you were following the steps to access your e-mail account.

Your initial network password is arranged as follows...

First initial in uppercase
+
Last initial in lowercase
+
2 digit day of birth
+
Last 4 digits of SSN.

For example, John Doe with birthday of April 23, 1981 and SSN of 123-45-6789 will have an initial network password of Jd236789.

Logging into a computer...

Once you have your network username and password on hand, follow the instructions below to logon to a computer...

  1. Making sure the Gordon computer is powered on, press CTRL + ALT + DELETE to enter the Logon to Windows box as shown in Fig 1 below.
