• Does Gordon offer Wireless (Wi-Fi) Internet?
YES. Gordon College provides all students free wireless Internet access around many locations on the Gordon College campus. The wireless "hot spots" or WiFi access points on campus include the public areas in most of our facilities. Wireless Internet is available in the Instructional Complex lobby areas, the Student Center (including the Atrium and second floor lounge area), the Hightower Library (first and second floor), Smith Hall, Gordon Commons, Melton Hall, Lambdin Hall, the Academic Building as well as several designated areas in and around the second floor of Russell Hall (ground level) and Watson Hall. You will need a wireless adapter (network) card with 802.11a, 802.11b or 802.11g compatibility in your laptop to connect.
Wireless Configuration (Microsoft Windows XP)...
- Double-click the Wireless Network Connection' icon in your Windows desktop system tray located on the bottom right of your screen.

- Click on the 'View Wireless Networks' button at the bottom of the Wireless Network Connection status screen.
- Select GordonWireless from the list of available wireless networks and then click on the 'Connect' button at the bottom right of the screen.

- You should now be connected to the Gordon College wireless network.
Windows Vista's wireless networking interfaces differ from those of XP. Go to Microsoft's Vista Support Center at for detailed instructions on how to connect to a wireless network in Windows Vista.
User Authentication...
Gordon College requires students using the campus network to be authenticated through a web browser using their network username and password. Authentication simply means that you will need to provide your Gordon network username and password in order to access the Internet. Only the Gordon College web site can be accessed without logging on. When you open your web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox, etc. and your network settings are configured properly you will be automatically redirected to the Gordon network logon screen ().
Username...
- You will need to know your Gordon network username. You likely have already obtained your username by accessing your e-mail account or if you have logged onto a Gordon computer...If not, you can lookup your username online by going to the web site and clicking on 'Lookup My GCID#' from the left-side menu on the screen.
- Within the smaller pop-up window, enter your last name, date of birth, and last 4 digits of your Social Security Number in the text boxes provided and press the 'Lookup' button
- Your username will be printed next to the bold heading NETWORK / GeorgiaVIEW USERNAME. Remember this username!
Password...
If you have NOT already, you will need to reset your password at least once before you will be allowed to access our wireless network. To create a new password follow the steps provided below...
NOTE: IF YOU HAVE ALREADY CHANGED YOUR PASSWORD TO ACCESS YOUR
E-MAIL ACCOUNT OR LOGGED ON TO A GORDON COMPUTER, YOU DO NOT NEED TO RESET YOUR PASSWORD. YOU WILL USE THE PASSWORD YOU PREVIOUSLY CREATED.
- From , click on 'Network Password Reset' located near the center of the page.
- Once the pop-up window appears enter your username in the text box provided and press the 'Submit' button. This is the username that you recorded by following the Username Lookup instructions detailed above.
- Once the next screen appears, answer the security question and then enter a new password in the text boxes provided. Make sure your new password conforms to the complex password standards detailed in the left column of the Network Password Reset pop-up window. Click 'Submit Reset'.
- You should see a message indicating that your password was reset successfully, if not, try again. Once your new password is created, you can now use your username and new password to access our wireless network.
