LPN TO RN ACCELERATED PROGRAM GENERAL DEGREE REQUIREMENTS
This is a fast paced program for LPN's who wish to further their education to become an RN. The classes will begin in Spring semester each year and continue for three consecutive semesters, until the end of Fall semester.
To be eligible for admission to this program, you must meet the admission criteria for both Section A and Section B as listed below. Section B is required for final acceptance.
Section A
- Formal acceptance letter from Gordon College required by July 30th.
- Exemption from or completion of all Learning Support classes
- Completion of Nursing Program application
- Minimum overall / cumulative 2.5 GPA with a minimum grade of C to be considered passing.
- Completion of all core curriculum required by the Nursing Program
- Have a minimum of one year of practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (except Griffin Tech and Central Georgia Tech graduates)
- Hold a current Georgia license as a Licensed Practical Nurse
Section B
- Successful completion of Admission Test
- Successful completion of Dosage Calculation Test
- Successful completion of Skills (lab) Test
LPN-RN applications are accepted from June 1 - August 15. Formal acceptance letter from Gordon College required by July 30. All applications and supporting documentation must be received on or before August 15 for consideration. All materials must be submitted as a complete packet in one envelope. Provisional acceptance will be granted before the Admissions Test, Dosage Calculation Test, and Skills Test will be scheduled. Final acceptance will occur after successful completion of these tests.
Any student who was previously in the Gordon College Nursing Program who was not successful in one nursing class but has subsequently become an LPN and meets the above criteria is eligible to apply for this program. Applicants failing two (2) or more nursing courses (including LPN courses) will not be considered for the Generic Nursing Program or the LPN Accelerated class. A grade of "D" is considered failing in a nursing program.

NOTE: ADMISSION TO THE NURSING PROGRAM IS SELECTIVE AND COMPETITIVE. APPLICANTS WITH THE STRONGEST CREDENTIALS WILL BE ACCEPTED FIRST AND OTHERS ON A SPACE AVAILABLE BASIS. TO BE ADMITTED TO THE PROGRAM, YOU MUST RECEIVE A LETTER OF ACCEPTANCE FROM THE NURSING DEPARTMENT.
