ASN AND LPN-RN BRIDGE DEGREES
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS / PROCEDURES FOR ADMISSION
Admission to the Nursing Education Programs is granted on a space available basis. Applications that meet all admission requirements will be ranked according to their qualifications and admitted in order of their rank, starting with the most qualified, until all available spaces are filled. Admissions are extremely competitive. As such, not all individuals who meet the admission requirements may be admitted.
The Gordon College ASN Nursing Program is 3 years in length IF you include the time required to complete the core classes.
Prerequisite Core Classes:
- Quantitative skills or College Algebra
- Anatomy and Physiology I
- English Composition I
- Human Growth and Development
- American History I or II
- Approved Elective (3 hr.) (see go to Curriculum)
- Microbiology with Lab
- Anatomy and Physiology II
- English Composition II
- Regents Test
All core classes MUST be completed with a minimum GRADE of C or better. Grades of D are not accepted by the Nursing department. Biology 2210, 2211, and 2250 can be no more than 5 years old upon entry to the Nursing Program. The Regents’ test is a requirement for an Associate of Science Degree (AS) in Nursing.
General ASN and LPN-RN Admission Requirements:
- Apply and receive formal acceptance letter from Gordon College by these deadlines: Jan 15 for following fall semester and July 30 for following spring semester.
- If sending transcripts to Gordon Admissions, have a second set sent to your home as these are required to be submitted in your nursing application packet.
- Exemption from or completion of all Learning Support classes prior to applying to nursing program.
- Complete all science courses within 5 years of application. Science courses older than 5 years must be retaken. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS.
- Attain a 2.5 GPA or higher. A minimum grade of C is required for all core requirements. Grades of D are not accepted.
- Complete the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) with a minimum score of 62.
- Be able to meet Technical Standards.
- Applicants failing two (2) or more nursing courses in ANY nursing program (including LPN) will not be considered. A grade of “D” is considered failing in a nursing program.
- If previously enrolled in a RN program at another school, special reference forms must be obtained from our office and submitted with your application.
- *NOTE: Students cannot be enrolled at another college / university / tech. school during the application period or for the term immediately preceding the beginning of nursing classes at Gordon. Students MAY qualify for TRANSIENT STATUS from the Gordon Registrar's Office to be enrolled at another institution during the application period (contact Registrar).
LPN to RN Accelerated Program Requirements:
The LPN-RN program is a one year program that begins in Spring (January) semester ONLY each year.
- LPN/RN applicants must meet ALL admission criteria as listed above in the general requirements. All Core coursework must be completed for application to LPN-RN program.
- Have a minimum of one year of practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (except Griffin & Central GA Tech grads)
- Hold a current Georgia license as an LPN
- Successful completion of Admissions Test, Dosage Calculation Test, Written Fundamentals Validation and Skills (lab) Test for students who have received conditional acceptance. Passage of all 4 of these tests is required for final acceptance. Please see the LPN web page for further information.

TEAS Testing Directions:
- Final acceptance to Gordon College must be completed by the appropriate deadlines to be eligible for TEAS testing at Gordon. All Gordon TEAS testing will end by Jan. 27 for fall application period and by Aug. 6 for the spring period.
- Visit the nursing office in Smith Hall for payment and registration procedures for a TEAS test. Payment of $25 is required prior to receiving a registered seat in a TEAS testing session. Seating is extremely limited and only students formally admitted to Gordon College may participate. Gordon TEAS registration is not available online.
- For students who have/will test outside of Gordon, TEAS test scores are only valid for one year from original test date. Applicants must include TEAS test score transcript with application packet.

- Letter of acceptance to Gordon College by required deadline(s)
- Minimum 2.5 Cumulative / overall GPA.
- Completed nursing application
- Minimum TEAS testing score (62)
- Transcripts from any current college where you are completing core coursework
- Transcripts from all previous colleges/universities attended (other than Gordon)
- Copy of State licensure (LPN-RN Bridge only)
- Reference forms (2) for students previously admitted to another RN nursing program
- Incomplete/late application packets will NOT be accepted.
